Keel for the construction of fire vessel ‘Strażak-28’ for ZMPSiŚ SA

On Friday, 20 August, the keel for the construction of the fire-fighting vessel Strażak-28 (B-861-1) was laid in our shipyard. The vessel will join the fleet of Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority SA in autumn 2022.

An acceptance protocol of the keel section was signed by: Dariusz Jaguszewski – Member of the Management Board of Remontowa Shipbuilding SA, Grzegorz Pettke – Ship Director of the Polish Register of Shipping, and Krystian Smużny – Technical Inspector at ZMPSiŚ SA.

The Fireman-28, which is 29.2m long and 10.47m wide, will be a modern vessel, equipped with two powerful FiFi pumps of 2700 m3/h each, with a pile pull of 45t. These parameters, among others, distinguish her from the fire vessels currently stationed in Szczecin and Świnoujście.

The vessel will be intended, among other things, to perform fire protection tasks during reloading, transport of hazardous materials by tankers carrying flammable gases and liquids, requiring assistance of a fire-fighting unit, as well as tasks related to rescue and work safety in the port of Szczecin and Świnoujście.

As, in addition to the functionality of a firefighting vessel, she will also perform towing functions, she will be assigned ice class L2.

Strażak-28 will join the other two vessels in the ZMPSiŚ SA fleet. Currently, Strażak-24 is moored in Szczecin and Strażak-26 in Świnoujście.
