New contract for the construction of next minehunters

The contract for delivery of two modern minehunters has been signed in Warsaw on 27th of December 2017. New ships „Kormoran II” will be built by Consortium led by Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A., member of Remontowa Holding. The other companies belonging to Consortium are: OBR Centrum Techniki Morskiej S.A. and PGZ Stocznia Wojenna.

The ceremony of first raising of Polish Navy flag on “ORP Kormoran”, took place on November 28, 2017. The ship is dedicated to minehunting tasks in Polish EEZ, as well as in tactical task forces in Baltic and North Sea and other auxiliary tasks defined by MoD. The vessel is designed with great care to achieve low signature and high maneuverability, thanks to use of cycloid propellers driven by diesel engines.

Two another minehunters will be delivered Polish Navy in 2020 – 2021.
