New contract of Remontowa Shipbuilding

New contract for constructing of a dynamically positioned Cable Lay Vessel was signed by Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. on 29 of April 2013. The vessel will be built for one of the biggest Norwegian offshore fleet Owner.

Realization of this contract is very important not only for Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. but for the whole shipbuilding sector in Poland as well. It will be the most technologically advanced vessel whenever built by polish shipyard.
This vessel will be completely constructed in Gdańsk – starting from workshop documentation through the construction of the hull with innovative shape to the outfitting with the modest navigation systems including DP 2, state-of the-art diesel electric propulsion and cable laying system.
Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. is a proven builder of offshore support vessels for many years. We are sure that construction of such innovative vessel will bring new orders from this demanding market.
The vessel is designed for installation, repair and maintenance of medium and high voltage submarine cable systems within the offshore renewable energy and offshore oil and gas markets. The vessel at overall length of 95.3 meters with cable payload of 4 250 tons will be served by sixty – man crew. Most of them will be engaged in handling operations of laying and connecting cables. The vessel will meet the highest standards of environmental protection and safety of navigation “CLEAN DESIGN” and will fly under the most reputable Norwegian flag.
Design and part of technical documentation will be prepared by Norwegian office – VARD Design. Workshop documentation will be made by belonging to REMONTOWA Group design office REMONTOWA MARINE DESIGN & CONSULTING Sp, z o.o.
The vessel will be built under the supervision of classification society Det Norske Veritas.
It is worth to note that realization of all orders by presently the biggest polish production yard provides employment for almost 2 000 employees of shipyard and cooperating companies.
