Remontowa Shipbuilding among signatories of Polish Offshore Wind Sector Deal

The “Polish Offshore Wind Sector Deal” was signed in Warsaw on 15 September by government administration representatives and key offshore wind sector stakeholders.

The main objective of the Agreement is to support development of the sector in Poland and to maximise local content, i.e. the participation of Polish entrepreneurs in the supply chain for offshore wind farms created in the Polish exclusive economic zone and to determine development directions for the offshore wind energy sector in Poland.

In accordance with the adopted assumptions, the signatories of the Memorandum of Understanding will strive for, among others, the highest possible involvement of Polish companies in the execution of the investments, with the share and the goal of the so-called local content at the level of 20-30% of the total value of the projects executed in the first phase, at least 45% for the projects implemented by 2030, and at least 50% for the projects executed after 2030.

They undertook, among other things, to provide Polish seaports with facilities for the execution of offshore wind energy investments, to educate personnel for the offshore sector and to use the potential of the Polish shipbuilding industry for the execution of offshore wind energy projects.

Shipbuilding sector is a natural supplier of some of the key elements and tools for construction, installation and operation of offshore wind farms.

“We joined the Agreement with satisfaction. We are pleased that after years of discussion and waiting Poland has embarked on the road to realising offshore wind farms. After the recent drafting and passing of relevant legislation in this area, this is the next step on this journey” – says Dariusz Jaguszewski, member of Remontowa Shipbuilding SA Management Board and signatory of the Agreement.

Due to large scale of operations, significant market shares and market position owing to i.a. quality of products (vessels) and services (repairs, conversions, modernisations) Remontowa Holding capital group shipyards have already become known to many operators of various types of vessels working in the offshore wind sector.

“We have vast experience in building and modernising fleets for the global energy sector. Remontowa Shipbuilding has delivered dozens of different offshore vessels, including the first cable vessel built from scratch in Europe, which is successfully installing underwater power link infrastructure on the largest offshore wind farms. As Remontowa Shipbuilding, we are able to build any multi-purpose offshore wind turbine vessel, fully equipped with state-of-the-art systems and equipment from the world’s leading suppliers. Operating together with other companies of Poland’s largest shipbuilding group – Remontowa Holding – which has its own design office Remontowa Marine Design and Remontowa Shiprepair Yard S.A. with its extensive technical infrastructure, thanks to our synergy and cooperation with other companies we can offer construction of even large installation vessels. Our 20 years of experience in various offshore projects, proven by concrete products and commercial solutions, will certainly be a valuable asset in the development of wind farms in the Baltic Sea and the subsequent maintenance of their technical and operational capacity.”
