Sections of the new firefighting vessel Strazak-28 are being built

Work is progressing at the Remontowa Shipbuilding SA shipyard on the construction of a new firefighting vessel, the Strażak-28 (B-861-1), for Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority SA. After the keel laid in August this year, the time will soon come to join all the sections currently under construction.

Hull elements such as the bow, superstructure and stern are being built. In a further stage, they will be joined together to complete the prefabrication process. The vessel will then be launched and further work will continue in the shipyard dock.

According to the schedule, the vessel will join the ZMPSiŚ S.A. fleet next year. It will be a modern vessel, 29.2 m long and 10.47 m wide, with a pile pulling capacity of 45t, equipped with two powerful FiFi pumps of 2700 m3/h each.

The vessel will be used, among other things, to perform fire protection tasks during transshipments, transport of hazardous materials by tankers carrying flammable gases and liquids, requiring assistance of a fire-fighting unit, as well as tasks related to rescue and operational safety of the Szczecin and Świnoujście ports.

The vessel, apart from the functionality of a fire vessel, will have the ability to reduce spills of substances of petroleum origin, perform emergency towing of vessels that may pose a threat to safety in the port and outside it, and will have ice class L2, which will allow sailing in medium ice conditions.
