THE LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF THE SECOND GAS FERRY

The first launching ceremony in this year, nine hundred seventy second in Shipyard’s history took place in REMONTOWA SHIPBUILDING SA on 17th January 2012.

The vessel which has been launched, is built for one of the biggest Norwegian Owner  - Torghatten Nord AS.  The vessel will be named „VÆRØY”, as one of the islands belonging to the Lofoten archipelago and port  lying on the serving  route.
It is already sixth vessel  built in REMONTOWA SHIPBUILDING S.A. for this Owner.
This time it will be second gas, eco-powered ferry  limiting  emission of NOx and SOx to the atmosphere.
The vessel will be delivered to the Owner in third quarter of this year.
Building of innovative gas powered ferries has become one of the main specialties  of REMONTOWA SHIPBUILDING S.A. during last years.

In 2010 the Shipyard finished realization of the contract for four innovatory gas powered ferries built for Norwegian Owner Fjord 1 MRF AS. Obrazek The first from the series  - ferry named Moldefjord won the prize  Green Ship Technology Awards awarded by  Informa Maritime Events, publisher one of the most important world’s marine magazine  - journal Lloyd’s List.

The series built for Fjord 1 MRF AS has also won the prize „Gold Anchor”
Awarded during XVI International Maritime Exhibition BALTEXPO, which was held in September 2011 in Gdańsk.

Currently building series of four modern gas ferries for one of the biggest Norwegian Owner - Torghatten Nord A.S confirms Shipyard’s position on  the market of the highly advanced vessels corresponding to the ecological  standards. Obrazek
 
Vessel’s concept and first phase of documentation was created as a result of cooperation  Norwegian design office LMG  and polish REMONTOWA Marine Design & Consulting Sp. z o.o.
Optimizing of the hull was completed using specialized computer programs and modeling studies in Gdansk Ship Design and Research Centre – Ship  Hydromechanics Division.
